Die Theile des Schlosses, so wie Muskel-und Mantel-Eindrücke haben sich nämlich an keinem der zahlreichen vorliegenden Exemplare beobachten lassen. Sämmtlichen Exemplaren ist eine eigcnthümliche Erhaltung gemeinsam, der zu Folge nicht ein blosser Steinkern der inneren Höhhing der Klappen sich gebildet, sondern die äussere Form der Schale selbst sich vollständig erhalten hat, jedoch so, dass die Oberfläche der Schale nicht aus einer von der übrigen Ausfüllungsmasse verschiedenen Gesteinsmasse besteht. Wären die vorliegenden Exemplare dennoch nur Steinkerne, so müsste die Schale äusserst dünn gewesen sein und die Streifen der Aussenflächc auch auf der Innenfläche vorhanden gewesen sein. Ausser mit Cgpricardia hat die Art auch mit gewissen Formen von Arca mit sehr genäherten Wirbeln und kleiner Ligamentfläche in der äusseren Form Verwandtschaft. Allein der Zurechnung zu dieser Gattung stehen die augenscheinlich dünne Beschaffenheit der Schale und der Umstand entgegen, dass andere in denselben Schichten vorkommende Arten der Gattung Arca stets in der Form ächter Steinkerne erhalten sind. Vorkommen: Bei Friedrichsburg häufig. Es liegen gegen 40 Exemplare vor, welche im Ganzen sehr nahe unter einander übereinstimmen und nur im Betreff der mehr oder minder starken Verlängerung nach hinten eine Verschiedenheit erkennen lassen.
